Thanks to Andy, John, Laurie, Randy, Len, Marty, and Scott for volunteering today at Coopersville Middle School in Coopersville Michigan. Teacher Jamie Stahl invited us into 4 of his classrooms and we saw about 60+ students. We have been working with Jamie for over 10 years. We brought our fishing lure pattern with us as well as snap rings and the snap ring tool. We were able to put the rings on the casting. Students will have to go paint up their lure and buy the size hook they want on their lure. We also added another piece of jewelry to our pattern collection today. We also brought the jumper rings to put on the casting in the classroom. We wanted to make sure the student could actually put the jewelry on a chain without going to the store. Some students put their casting on their chain in class today. You will see that in the pictures. We had one student with a medallion on a chain. A couple of us said (hey, we can cast that). So we did. She was so thrilled to have a duplicate. Check the photo out....

From CWC in Muskegon we had Carola and Joe. Ryan from the Muskegon Career Tech Center invited us in to present to his two Engineering and Problem Solving Classes. We had, I think, one of the best collaborative FiB’s ever. Alex, the Principle of the Tech Center informed the volunteers of the things that they were working on and how we can fit into those plans, the volunteers to teach metal castings, and Nugent and CWC to support the efforts to get students trained and hired into local companies. We did a foundry in a box demonstration at Fruitport Middle School in Fruitport, Mi. Mr. Thommen invited us in to show about 45 students in his woodshop classes a little bit about metal castings. Riley is in the Human Resource Department at Linamar Structures right around the corner from the Middle School. She was able to talk with students and answer any questions they may of had.
