Thanks to Andy, John, Laurie, Scott, Beth, Don, Randy, Bill, Al, and Reg for volunteering at the Muskegon Montessori School Academy for Environmental Change Foundry in a Box demonstration. Andria Yost hosted us on Monday April 27th 2026. Andria herself is a recent recipient of the U.S. EPA Presidential Innovation award for Environmental Educators. This is given to recognize the Teaching and Inspiring the next generation of environmental leaders. We had first graders to 8th graders. We had 80+ students and staff attend the demonstrations. The students made their own 3d printed patterns and they casted them. Jeremy has a sand station in his classroom so they test their patterns out to see if they work or not. Rob and Tracy invited us in to show about 16 students our Foundry in a Box demonstration. Students picked out their pattern, packed sand around the pattern, poured tin into their pattern and got their casting to finish at the finishing station. We discussed careers, salaries and the most needed jobs coming up in the next five years. Later that night Andy and Scott went to Covenant Life Church in Grand Haven to help build bunk beds that end up going to those in need in the area.
