FIB for the Grant Cub Scout Pack #4136

Jeff Cook and Andy Scherf did an Foundry In a Box for the Grant Cub Scout Pack #4136 Monday night. About 15 kids plus leaders and a few parents. One of the fathers had 27 years at Grand Rapids Castings and was extremely helpful with the demos. He helped us with the sand molding. The scouts had a high school mentor. February 2017 AFS Meeting

Another great meeting was held this February.  This meeting featured Raymond W. Monroe.  Raymond W. Monroe rejoined the Steel Founders’ Society of America as Executive Vice President on April 1, 1988. Prior to this, for a year he worked for Saturn Corporation, a General Motors subsidiary, in the lost foam casting area. Raymond also was the Research Director of SFSA for five years before leaving to join Saturn Corporation. Other past experience includes contract research in metallurgy, failure analysis and castings processes at the Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, Alabama for six years; and, while a student, working for NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center. MCC Student Chapter of AFS Took First Place

We are very pleased to announce that MCC Student Chapter of AFS took first place in the student casting competition.  All other schools participating were 4 year universities.  This competition took place in Wisconsin. This is an accomplishment not only our students and college can be proud of but our community in general.
